Well the morning started of rainy and cold, because I go to work very early in the morning I was really grateful for my garage. Seems silly, but I really like NOT having to scrape my windows in the morning.
This afternoon I did a long run with a friend. I just kept thinking this is my life, I really really like it. I am typically a happy person, and it feels good to be happy. There was a short period (that didn't feel short at the time) that I was so sad. I had never experienced that kind of sadness before, some people don't want to feel it, when they are going through hard times, but I did, I wanted to feel all of it, because I knew that would be my process for moving on. So I am also grateful that time does heal wounds.
These days I surround myself with really good people. The quality kind of people. I cherish every moment with my kids, and take every opportunity I get with them to experience a little more of what's out there. I was happy before my ex walked out, but I am living a much more fulfilling life now. These days our only conversation happens here or there during the work day, and strictly on the matter of our kids. It took time to get to this point, but so worth it. Thank you time, for healing to wounds and returning my happiness.

Day 5
Thankful for the one on one time I get with my kids. I truly value my time with each of my kids, but I love being able to have time to give each my undivided attention. Tonight while his sister was a Shrek practice we had a dinner date at our favorite spot, just the two of us. I'm sure going to miss this guy when he heads to college.

Day 4
As I was riding today my first thought was, I was very grateful for my gore bike wear winter gloves. It was 39 degrees at 10 am when I took off and my hands were so nice and warm, was really appreciating those (thank you Rick).
As I went though I was thinking about how much I love to be on my bike, how easy it is for me. It was in 2007 my ex encouraged me to start road biking, so we bought a bike and I signed up for the woman's rides here in town. This experience with about 30 other woman, doing something new and slightly scary, was amazing. I quickly made friends with a gal of comparable skill, and we continued to bike together after. She had just gone through a really hard divorce, we'd ride and talk, and she soon intruduced me to some other amazing women, the ladies that I now call my best friends. It's amazing how people are put into our lives for a reason, I would need these ladies very much in the coming years.
Cycling essentially saved me from the stress I was experiencing with my ex at that time, ironically part of that stress involved a woman I had signed up for the woman's rides with, but I won't go into that. I would bike, think, clear my head, get my heart rate up, by the time I came home in time to get the kids from school, life didn't feel as chaotic, and I slept much better. In that time I was also able to see the beauty that surrounds us here, it was quite the experience.

I am so glad whatever the circumstances were that lead me to cycling in my late twenties. I had no idea how good I could be at it, just that I enjoyed it. It was a bonus to be doing something good for myself, and to end up being quite good at it, plus it brought so many new wonderful people to my life.
So along with my awesome gloves today I was grateful for embracing new experiences. Going out of the comfort zone, with an open mind!

Day 3
It's 9am and I am already filled with gratitude. For this wonderful place I live with plenty of outdoor space to play, breath, think, come alive.
Also grateful for friends with similar values. Willing to get up early so we can be home to make breakfast and spend the day with our families.

Day 2
This was easy, and first thing in the morning. Grateful this is what I get to do for a living, and have first thing in the morning!
Along with that, grateful this girl loves coming in with me!

Month of Thanks
My goal during the month of November is to give thanks each day for something that day I was thankful for.
Day 1: thankful for being able to walk my daughter to school. I take Fridays off just for this, I love being able to start mine and her day this way. Just the two of us talking, laughing, us in our own world for those few minutes.
