Memorial Day

I've always considered St Patty's day to be my favorite semi holiday. Its so laid back, people get together and have a stress free great time. Well Memorial weekend may very well replace that! It was such a great weekend, filled with so much to do in this valley and so many truly wonderful people to share it with.
Friday night we got our garden all together, Logan worked for hours on it, we look forward to some really yummy things coming from it!
Saturday we started the morning with what was to be a "couples" ride, but ended up being 11 riders, 3 women (including me), do the math, not so couple like. The group, a wee bit intimidating, a couple collegiate/pro riders, the rest the "super" studs of this valley. All in all, it ended up being wonderful! We rode 46 miles, through Cashmere, out to Dryden and back, all on side rodes. The weather was perfect, scenery incredible, and I learned a lot from this group!

I am recovering from a respiratory bug so after wine tasting with my sis later that day I rested while Logan and Lars went up to my parents for a BBQ. Lo LOVES spending time with Cal!!
Sunday I met the ladies for a run, another gorgeous day and what a wonderful way to start the day, the evening brought us to another BBQ at Erika's, the kids had such a great time, which meant the adults had a wonderful time!
Monday, we slept in, then Lars worked for hours on our sprinklers. Unfortunately I was not so much help...I made lunch! Mondays are a cycling day for me, and after such a busy weekend I was lacking motivation, but finally got around to it and took my new TT bike out and did climbing repeats for an hour. I'm getting really comfortable with this bike, so I ended up really enjoying it! The weather again was perfect, I find so much peace on my bike, love it!
Then off to another BBQ we went, kids had fun, adults had fun. Now we are home unwinding, Luke's back from the lake, exhausted, but he had a blast! Can't wait for next year!

Never too early to start

We had to take Luke up to the lake to stay with a friend, which for Lars and I meant an excuse to wine taste! My sister and Ian were able to join us.

Lo wanted to take part, or at least look the part.

My sis and her family

Lo taking after Lars, and really concentrating on the nose!

Muddy Ride

Lars and I set out for a ride on Thursday, doing what we call the reverse "DU" course. Little did we know there was road work going on. From our house it's a 24 mile loop, so we had to go through the road work twice. This is what we looked like when we got home!

Click on the pics to get the full effect!

It was actually quite comical, once you realized there's nothing you can do about it!

Ride of Silence

On Wednesday May 20Th Lars and I took part in the Worldwide Ride of Silence. At 7pm, we rode with about 70 other cyclist, silently through Wenatchee behind a police escort. It is a ride to raise awareness, as well as remember those who have been hit, injured or killed in a vehicle bike collision.

Very cute pic of Erika and Ron before the ride.
They read a very touching poem before we took off.

Family Bike Night

Since April we try to make one night a week where we all bike together. For now it has been on Tuesdays. We are a 1/2 mile from the loop trail, so we bike down, bike the 10 miles and go to dinner on the Avenue. This is probably my favorite ride of the week!

Excuse the pics, the were taken on the go, but if you click on them they are a little better.
I have officially lost my mountain bike to Luke, he out grew his and now uses mine!

We keep Lo on the trail a bike for the loop, so that we are able to accomplish everything in a timely manner!

Busy, busy week

We are still here, we've just had a pretty busy 2 weeks. This is Lo before her program, she was a dancing flower, too cute!

We had a great Mothers Day, fairly laid back, Lars went for a run with me, which is a treat since he doesn't run anymore, and after that hard work we all went to Anjou for some yummy treats, then onto Lowes to get wood to build our boxes for the raised beds, then off to my mom's house for some more yummys and a visit with my sisters family before they went home.
We also made a stop by the cemetery to remember Grandma Janice, Logan picked some very pretty flowers from our yard.

Annabelle (the cat) and Lo sharing an afternoon snack Friday. We find her like this all the time, she will eat just about anything. We have 3 chairs at that table and in the morning when I feed the kids breakfast, she sits at the 3rd chair waiting for leftover milk and cereal or eggs!
This weekend all our time was spent volunteering at the Wenatchee Omnion bike race. Saturday we went down to the ave at 1 to set up, the race started at 3 and I was in the pace car as a spotter, Lars was a corner marshal for a couple of ours, at 9:30 we made our way home.
While the kids were there, ( Grampa Greg and Janet came to get them for dinner and a movie) this is how they entertained themselves!

I did manage to get in a bike ride with the girls early Saturday morning, and Sunday Lars was a follow car for the road race, we are looking forward to Memorial Weekend!

Batterman

For the past 5 weeks or so there has been a group of ladies riding on Saturday mornings. It started with Jennifer and I (the one on the right), the next week it was Erika (the one in the middle and I), then Erin and I met a group of 4, but last week 8 ladies turned out! That was the first ride I got to meet and ride with Daphne (on the left), another amazing women cyclist!

This week 6 ladies and one gentleman showed up to ride Batterman. A ride I actually like, but gets kind of a bad name because there is one pretty good size climb. Here's the thing though, the rest of the ride is pretty flat which around here is hard to find!

I feel so lucky to have such a wonderful group of women to ride with!

Future Racer!

So Logan does everything in her own time, I know this about her so I don't ever fret. For the longest time she has not wanted to ride a bike, yet she is in a house full of cyclist.

She doesn't get the girly bikes, because she gets Luke's hand me downs, so I told when she starts riding more I will get her a basket for her bike!

Today she decided to ride, and took off like it was nothing. I guess I will be basket shopping!

Remember to click on the pictures to view them better.
On another note I have 2 new blogging friends and have put their link to the right, its the Konrads and Sara's welcome to the blogging world ladies!

More Apple Blossom Fun!

This year we fully embraced Apple Blossom. We live less than a 1/2 mile from all the festivities, so that means no hassle of driving/parking! Last night we went to the crafts in the park, settled down with a blanket to listen to music, and treated ourselves to dinner at the food fair! Logan got the Hawaiian salmon and salad dinner, and Luke was kind enough to get curly fries and a corn dog so his mom could stop thinking about curly fries and help him out with his!

This morning it was the kids turn to run in the Apple Blossom run. They LOVE doing runs, I am so proud of them! They got a ribbon and shirt when they finished!

After that we settled in to watch the parade, and now off to a bar-b-q at a neighbors!
