Mazama Fun Run

We started our Memorial weekend off with the Mazama Fun Run.  Logan ran the kids 1K, Luke did the 5K and got 3rd in the 13-15.  Lars and I did the 10k, both getting 4th in the 30-39.
Its such a fun and beautiful run.  The best part is..... right afterwards they have the "World Famous Pancake Breakfast".
To be able to hang with great friends and their families in a beautiful place and run, was a great start to the weekend!

What a weekend!

I am Tired (yes with a capital T), after this weekend! So many fun things to do and the weather was just perfect!
This morning Lars and I got up early, took the kiddos to my parents and biked 75 miles with a couple of willing friends!
The route lead us from downtown Leavenworth, up the Chumstick (which should be noted is a gradual 14 mile climb, ignorance was bliss), through Plain and Lake Wenatchee and back to downtown to end with a beer at the Munchen Haus! Not the flattest 75 miles I have ever done, but the scenery was well worth it!
We ended the day with my Grandpa's 90th birthday! 90 years, that is something to be celebrated!

Logan's Day!

Kids ages 5-13 can participate in a multi sport relay know as Jr. Ridge 2 River.  This year Logan did a tandem with her friend Torin.  She did the running leg, he then kayaked and biked, then they met up for the obstacle course!  So much fun to watch!
Again we love having my sister living here, the whole family came out to support Lo!
All in all a GREAT day of racing! Way to go Logan and Torin!

Lars and the Wenatchee Omnium!

A few more pics from Lars racing weekend! The first few are at criterium Saturday evening.  They rode 20 minutes in a 1 mile loop in downtown Wenatchee.  It is terrifying to watch, and hard to do (they basically ride anaerobic the entire time), but Lars got done and said he loved it!
The second set are from the road race Sunday, it was a 40 mile race that included 2 loops around Joe Miller!

It's a racing weekend!

Luke had his last track meet Friday night.  We sat there from 3:30-7 at times in 80 degrees and sun, and others during a 5 minute downpour.  This picture was taken when it let up a bit.

Lars had his first bike race of the season, it started this morning with a time trial out on the Malaga hwy, this evening will be the criterium and tomorrow morning is the road race out on Joe Miller (locals will appreciate this...2 loops).
I plan to take more photos tonight!

Mothers day

It was a pretty perfect Mothers Day!  Started off early taking my 4 legged child Kaiser for a beautiful 7 mile run.  He must have know it was Mother's day, he was on his best behavior!
Came home to a wonderful breakfast of blueberry pancakes (my fave) and coffee in the hot tub!
Logan wanted to do some gardening (who's child is she anyways) so we pulled weeds.  Lars and I set out for a ride up some hills in the valley, came home and the little children joined us on a ride around the the loop and then to Safeway to get goods for dinner.  Really in my book that was a perfect day!  Loves to my family for making it such a great day!

A few more from Boston!

We made it back without incident on Tuesday, even got the exit row for our 4 1/2 hour flight ( a rare thing when you have kids).  I had such a great time on this trip, Rachel was the best traveling partner, we had so much fun, and Mike was a phenomenal tour guide, there is no way we would've seen all we saw without him!
It also made me realize how much I love and have missed traveling!  Its been almost 9 years since I was flying the skies with United.  With two children and a business we have kept our travels simple and stuck to California and Hawaii (can't really complain about that).   I have always loved seeing the world, and have learned so much through my travels, I won't wait so long to venture back East or abroad next time!

Old North Church.  This is where 2 lanterns were hung, because the British were advancing by boat across the Charles River.  The famous phrase  from the ride of Paul Revere "One if by land and two if by sea" comes from this.

The King

Had a little trouble getting home today.  We got to the airport at 3:45 for our 5:45 flight to Detroit, canceled...we were sent to Memphis at 6, but apparently there was a recent merge with Northwest so we sat on the plane for over an hour for "paper" problems then the 3.5 hour flight, needless to say missed the connection to Seattle in Memphis.  Delta gave us the option to fly to Detroit (wasn't I supposed to go there first thing this morning), then onto Seattle getting us in at 11pm (2am east coast, almost 24 hours since leaving).  Anyways we took plan "B" spend the night in Memphis, take the direct at 9am tomorrow.  Clearly we had to go see where the king lived!

Wish us luck getting out tomorrow!

Boston

We have had an action packed 3 days! Rachel and I saw all of the sights we wanted to see and more with our friend Mike!!
This will be quick because I need to get to bed (5:45am flight back home tomorrow), but last night a major pipe bringing drinking water into Boston broke!  We didn't think to much of it, other than when we went to the store to get bottled water the shelves were bare (our hotel comped their $7 in room VOSS waters).  Now here is where the big problem (for me) lies.....coffee was a MAJOR challenge to get this morning.  We did a 5 mile run around the Charles River, stopped at a cafe for coffee..nope....no one in the area was able to serve coffee, Starbucks had signs up "no drinks are being made, only bottled water and juices).  Found a place that was willing to give Mike and I a cup of coffee (I may pay the price for this later).  After that we hit the streets, 90 degrees humid, no coffee, tea, water, or sodas at the restaurants....so we drank a few sweat teaini's YUMMY!
